The SPPF was founded in 1986 by a number of independent labels keen to develop musical diversity in France, and to support musical independence, creativity and freedom of production. Through their involvement, they have created the conditions enabling all independent labels to preserve and control the collective management of their neighboring rights within a "common house". It collects and distributes the neighboring rights only of Independent Producers, whether French or foreign, whatever the musical genre of their productions.
