In 2012, after the four 5tet then 7tet albums of the ilium project, and shortly before his residencies at national theaters of Cergy Pontoise and Saint Quentin en Yvelines, which were to enable the Medium Ensemble to develop, Pierre de Bethmann released a brand new Quartet program on the Plus Loin label, showing both his work of the moment, and potential further developments.

Ten original compositions featuring many of his compositional ideas, made of formal stretching, rhythmic shifts and harmonic-melodic twists, served up by outstanding soloists and long-standing partners, enabled the pianist/keyboardist/composer to make his mark.
